Twitter is officially obsessed with the Linda Lindas, a band of tween girls who are single-handedly bringing riot grrrl back to life with their song "Racist, Sexist Boy."

The L.A. punk rock quartet made up of Mila (age 10), Eloise (13), Lucia (14) and Bela (16), performed their viral song during their set for their Los Angeles Public Library's AAPI Heritage Month appearance earlier in May. The group — who identify as "half-Asian/half-Latinx" — explained that the inspiration for the song came after one of the young members was subjected to anti-Asian racism at school.

"A little while before we went into lockdown, a boy in my class came up to me and said that his dad told him to stay away from Chinese people," drummer Mila explained of the track. "After I told him that I was Chinese, he backed away from me. Eloise and I wrote this song based on that experience."

The resulting song is a ripping, sludgy tune that gleefully embodies the ethos of iconic feminist punk rockers Bikini Kill, who the band have been known to cover from time to time (including once for their appearance in Amy Poehler's riot grrrl-themed Netflix movie, Moxie).

Since their livestream performance of "Racist, Sexist Boy" for the L.A. Public Library, the group have exploded online, with followers hailing them as the face of the new generation of punk and applauding their rebellious spirit. Even Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello gave the girl group a virtual shout-out, calling their track the "song of the day."

"The Linda Lindas rock harder than you can possibly imagine," one Twitter user responded to the clip. "The textbook definition of 'the kids are alright.'"
