Tragic Hearts

'Drugged Out On Danger' (EP Stream)

Toronto melodic punk crew Tragic Hearts are set to release a long-awaited new EP this month. But before Drugged Out On Danger drops, Exclaim! is giving you the chance to hear the entire thing before its release.

Co-produced by the band and Lance Schibler, the group's pointed songwriting and strong vocal harmonies shine over five tracks and an acoustic demo, each one described as "a wistful chant against the universe's greatest injustices, love's prickly thorns, and the laughable notion that we all matter."

"The songs span a pretty wide range of topics, but I guess they're loosely centered around the idea of human frailty," vocalist/guitarist Dean Richards told Exclaim!. "The characters in the songs all suffer from some kind of existential emptiness on some level. Punk records have always been attractive to me because they challenge our place in the world and ask questions about how we should live. Hopefully people listening can get brought into that conversation too."

Drugged Out On Danger arrives February 19 through Be One Music, and Tragic Hearts will be celebrating the release at Sneaky Dee's as part of part of the Toronto bar's weekly punk/emo night Homesick on April 8. For now, you can stream the entire EP in the player below.
