After a persistent (but ultimately successful) Twitter campaign by @weezerafrica and a trolling version of "Rosanna," Weezer finally covered "Africa" by Toto. Now, Toto have revealed plans to return the favour by taking on a Weezer tune.
Radio station KROQ issued a challenge to Toto, asking the band to redo a Weezer song, to which Toto's Steve Lukather replied by revealing that the band were already doing exactly that.
According to Lukather, Toto have decided to record a cover version of Weezer's "Hash Pipe."
They performed the Weezer track live, but for those who weren't tuned in, Toto will officially release their rendition of "Hash Pipe" as a single on August 10.
Speaking about the song choice, Lukather told KROQ, "I want to show everyone what a good rock'n'roll band we can be."
Stay tuned to hear the official recorded version of "Hash Pipe" in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, get familiar with the original below.
