Continuing to give his back catalogue the reissue treatment, Tom Waits has now turned to his Island Records releases for a new release campaign, celebrating LPs released between 1983 and 1993.

Waits's Swordfishtrombones (1983), Rain Dogs (1985), and Franks Wild Years (1987) will be treated to physical reissues on CD and 180-gram black and coloured vinyl on September 1, while Bone Machine (1992) and The Black Rider (1993) will follow on October 6.

Overseen by Waits and Kathleen Brennan, all the reissues feature audio remastered by Chris Bellman from the original master tapes under the guidance of the artist's longtime audio engineer, Karl Derfler.

News of the Island Records catalogue returning to vinyl should be welcome news to Waits heads, with the reissue campaign marking the first time Bone Machine and The Black Rider have been widely available in the format since their initial release. Original pressings of both titles have regularly fetched three-figure sums on resale sites such as Discogs.

Remastered digital editions of the aforementioned albums are available to stream today, while physical editions are now available for pre-order.

Earlier this year, Waits reissued his 1973 debut Closing Time to celebrate the album's 50th anniversary. That followed last year's anniversary reissues of Blood Money and Alice.

Waits's most recent studio album remains 2011's Bad as Me, which landed him on the cover of Exclaim! that year.
