TLC Causes Outrage on Twitter over Delayed Kickstarter Album

BY Alex HudsonPublished Nov 2, 2015

TLC launched a Kickstarter campaign in January, and it proved to be a great success, with the '90s R&B stars exceeding their $150,000 funding goal by raising $430,255 US. The money is going towards a comeback album, but many fans have taken to Twitter to express their frustration that the promised LP still hasn't arrived.

At the time of the initial campaign, the album was listed with a tentative release date of September 2015. Now that the date has come and gone, impatient fans have begun tweeting with the hashtag #TLCisGoingToJailParty.

Most of the jokes use GIFs and meme-worthy video clips to suggest that TLC members Tionne Watkins (a.k.a. T-Boz) and Rozonda Thomas (a.k.a. Chilli) have taken the money with no intention on delivering on their promise.

TLC's last Kickstarter update came back in September. At the time, they wrote that the album had been bumped back to 2016, saying this would give them "more time to finish the record the TLC way." They have been recording with producer Ron Fair and also plan to tour in 2016.
