Old-man Abel is back: the Weeknd has announced an immersive TV special centred on the eerie, analogue radio world of his latest album, January's Dawn FM.
Created by the artist, La Mar C. Taylor and director Micah Bickham, The Weeknd x the Dawn FM Experience will be available to stream via Amazon Prime Video on February 26. It will also stream as an eight-track live EP exclusively on Neil Young's favourite, Amazon Music.
"I'm ecstatic to partner with Amazon to premiere the most elaborate live TV special I've ever done," the Weeknd said in a press release. "Welcome to the next phase of Dawn FM: a purgatory otherworld where live performance, theatre and performance art collide for a night out at the club."
Based on the Jim Carrey-narrated exploration of limbo on the album, which was recently revealed as part of a new trilogy, we can definitely expect a Black Mirror-esque descent into its unnerving, moody atmosphere.
