John K. Samson, bandleader of Winnipeg indie vets the Weakerthans, has released three new songs as Vivat Virtute (which roughly translates to Virtute lives) with his partner, singer-songwriter Christine Fellows.
The songs are called "Royal Bank of Canada," "Budget Delegations" and "All My Ex-Boyfriends Are You," and together, they make up their new EP, June First.
Samson said the EP is "marking ten years without alcohol," and said, "Also a sweet coincidence, I was at the Manitoba Legislature this morning to watch them pass a unanimous motion to ask the hockey hall of fame to induct Reggie Leach."
June First follows Vivat Virtute's mostly instrumental album Hold Music, released in February.
