The Rolling Stones' 1968 concert Rock and Roll Circus will be treated to a remastered box set, which will arrive on June 7 through ABKCO.
The Stones hosted the show in December 1968, performing amidst a lineup that included the Who, Yoko Ono, Jethro Tull, Taj Mahal, Marianne Faithfull and the Dirty Mac — a spur of the moment supergroup comprising John Lennon, Keith Richards, Mitch Mitchell and Eric Clapton.
The show also marked Brian Jones' last live performance with the Rolling Stones. It was filmed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg for a BBC special, but it never aired after Brian Jones left the band and then died in July of 1969.
Rock and Roll Circus was only officially released in 1996. Now, it's getting treated to a reissue in a variety of formats.
The remastered tracklisting features bonus material like additional Taj Mahal performances and a previously unreleased recordings of the Dirty Mac performing "Revolution" and a warm-up jam.
The film, meanwhile, will feature new commentary from the likes of Richards, Mick Jagger, Lindsay-Hogg, Ono, Faithfull and cinematographer Tony Richmond. It also features an on-camera interview with the Who's Pete Townshend.
The deluxe edition features a 3-LP soundtrack that marks the first time Rock and Roll Circus has been released on vinyl, as well as DVD and Blu-ray versions of the film. It also contains a 48-page book including photographs by Michael Randolf and an essay by David Dalton.
The package is also available as a 2-CD set.
