Formed in 1979, Prince's backing band the Revolution played alongside the Purple One on some of his most acclaimed recordings, namely Purple Rain1999 and Around the World in a Day. Now, members Wendy Melvoin, Lisa Coleman, Matt Fink, Brown Mark and Bobby Z. have announced that they will reunite for live shows without their bandleader.

In a video posted to Brown Mark's Facebook page, the five band members revealed their intention to reunite for live dates. "We have decided, after spending three or four days together now grieving over the loss of Prince, that we would like to come out and do some shows," said Melvoin.

The announcement did not include any immediate tour dates or related information, though Melvoin mentioned they would "be there soon."
