The Descendents have spoken out to condemn the Oath Keepers, a far-right militia group, after their former spokesman wore their merch while testifying in the January 6 hearings.

The punk group wrote on Twitter yesterday (July 12) that they "completely disavow" the Oath Keepers and groups like them, and "in no way condone their hateful ideology."

The man wearing the T-shirt with the band's iconic Milo logo was Jason Van Tatenhove, who used to be the national media director of the Oath Keepers.

He testified against the far-right collective, several members of which are implicated in the January 6 insurrection. Van Tatenhove called them a "dangerous militia," and said that he left the group after he heard fellow members deny that the Holocaust was real.

Jon Schaffer of the Tampa metal band Iced Earth is a longtime member of the Oath Keepers who was involved with the insurrection at the US Capitol and pleaded guilty last year. Ariel Pink and John Maus also attended the protest.
