A year after SZA released her 2022 album SOS, the singer is teasing a new project called LANA.
She posted six versions of the album cover on Instagram, each with a caption that simply reads "LANA." In three of the shots, she's wearing a jersey that says "15," prompting fans in the comments to speculate that the album will be out on December 15 (this Friday).
Previously, SZA has described LANA as an accompaniment to SOS, consisting of extra material from the session, telling an audience back in September, "So the deluxe is like a whole 'nother album. It's called LANA. It's seven to 10 songs, and it'll be out this fall."
By November, however, she was still working on LANA. She told Variety, "It was gonna be [SOS] outtakes and some new songs, but it's become more than I expected. It was gonna be really soft, because I had made all my screaming points, and I just wanted to glide and not think [too much] and get out of my own head — I was so happy to say some shit that didn't mean a fucking thing."
She added, "It's definitely turning into its own album. And I guess I could drop a new album randomly, because no one's actually expecting that from me right now."
