Supersuckers

Live At Helldorado

BY Keith CarmanPublished Jan 14, 2008

While it seems like overkill that punk rock’n’rollers the Supersuckers are releasing yet another live effort — CD, DVD or otherwise — in the case of Live At Helldorado, the final results are entirely worthwhile. After the loss of founding drummer Dancing Eagle, the band faltered, mired in indecision, with a string of session players merely filling the void. Here though, the band feature former Reverend Horton Heat skins man Scott Churilla and the energy and enthusiasm are infectious. The frontline is powerful and overall, the band are tight, with the rhythm pounding relentlessly throughout the course of 23 career-spanning songs and fan favourites. These may be some old road dogs but thanks to the inclusion of a solid pounder, there appears to be way more life, and a few new tricks, left in them. Even extra footage captured live in Serbia and a discography relish in the reinvigoration.
