Sunset Rubdown

Some acts belong entirely in their own class and Sunset Rubdown are quickly approaching such elite status. Playing mostly songs from their excellent new album, the band demonstrated greater cohesion as a group, as well as a thrilling degree of instrumental growth, particularly in the beat department. Any awkward shyness in the banter was rendered moot by the group’s gleefully idiosyncratic prog-pop masterpieces. The crowd, expecting a headlining slot, clearly agreed, pestering Krug and crew for an encore to the point where Spencer actually had to tell the crowd to "fuck off, we’re really out of time.”
