Every morning when I wake up there's a heartache hanging from the corner of my four-post bed — when will Sugar Ray make their proper return? Sure, frontman Mark McGrath is losing his hearing, but that shouldn't stop him from delivering the goods on some new, summery noughties rock. Fortunately, the singer has heard our call and planned a new Sugar Ray LP.
McGrath confirmed that the band have signed with BMG and plan to release a new album this year. It will mark their first LP since 2009's incredibly titled Music for Cougars.
"We are honoured and so grateful to be signing with our second major label 25 years after we signed with our first," McGrath said in an official announcement. "We look forward to working with BMG — a company designed for the future. This is truly a modern-day musical partnership!"
While details are unclear, Sugar Ray will release their seventh studio album this summer. And they're already getting daps from their fellow frosted-tip rockers:
