Sublime and Meat Puppets Members Unearth Lost Album as Volcano

The supergroup are releasing the self-titled LP, originally recorded in 2003, this June

When Sublime released their world-dominating self-titled album in 1996, frontman Bradley Nowell sadly wasn't around to see it, having had a fatal heroin overdose shortly after the record's completion.

His death prompted the band's breakup, after which rhythm section Bud Gaugh (drums) and Eric Wilson (bass) continued to play together with the Long Beach Dub Allstars — and, eventually, Gaugh teamed up with Meat Puppets' Curt Kirkwood and Nirvana's Krist Novoselic to form Eyes Adrift. They released a self-titled album in 2002 before Novoselic left to focus on politics. Gaugh and Kirkwood went on to recruit bassist Jon Poutney, as well as Sublime producer Michael "Miguel" Hapoldt on guitar, to form the supergroup Volcano.

Volcano are now releasing their "lost" 2003 self-titled album on June 20 via Don Giovanni Records, after it was previously released, but basically only sold at the handful of shows in California they played at the time before the group dissolved. You can hear the ska-informed, very California-sounding single, "It Don't Matter," below, where you'll also find the tracklist details.
