The promise of a new Backxwash album arriving on Halloween was no trick: HIS HAPPINESS SHALL COME FIRST EVEN THOUGH WE ARE SUFFERING is out now, and you can treat your ears to the entire release below.
The 10-track HIS HAPPINESS SHALL COME FIRST EVEN THOUGH WE ARE SUFFERING caps Backxwash's three-album trilogy which also includes 2020's God Has Nothing to Do With This Leave Him Out of It and last year's I Lie Here Buried with My Rings and My Dresses.
Backxwash's latest is said to delve "into environmental influences during her youth and times pre-dating her existence, concluding this therapeutic practice with a return to the here and now with a stronger sense of self than when she began this therapeutic and cathartic trilogy."
It also features contributions from Sadistik, Pupil Slicer vocalist/guitarist Katie Davies, Toronto multihyphenate Morgan-Paige, Censored Dialogue, Vaelastrasz, Ghais Guevara and Michael Go. The self-produced LP was mixed by Will Owen Bennett and mastered by Richard Addison.
Following today's release on Bandcamp, HIS HAPPINESS will see a wider release via DSPs in the coming weeks. It will also see release on coloured vinyl that is now available for pre-order via Bandcamp.
Backxwash recently appeared on a new song from Algiers that will appear on the band's new album this February.
