The third album from the boys in A Static Lullaby was purposefully a self-titled album. After being one of those bands that falls victim to the sophomore album slump, and surviving the loss of three of the original five band members, they have regrouped, fortified their walls, and stood once more to the challenge. Returning again to their original sound, which was considered to be one of the pioneers of the melodic meets hardcore blend that birthed the screamo movement we all know so well. Ignited by the fire of survival of the fittest, they have given themselves a fresh start (hence, the self titled album), and thrown themselves full-force back into the game. The album runs at a high energy pace for nearly the entire 45 minutes; reminiscent of an Underoath/Poison the Well sound with deep growls, scratching vocals and melodic moments to bring it down in intervals. This is by all means a good solid album, and is their best effort yet, while still leaving room for growth.
