Soulwax Doc Set for December DVD Release

Soulwax’s tour doc, Part of the Weekend Never Dies, is finally set for release in North America. After coming out earlier this year in Europe, the Saam Farahmand directed documentary about the Belgium dance crew will come as a new DVD experience courtesy of [PIAS], who on December 9 will release both Part of the Weekend Never Dies and its sister film, Nite Versions Live, as a double-disc set in Canada and the U.S.

As previously reported, Part of the Weekend Never Dies documents three years of Soulwax on the road, with the camera following them for 120 shows in Europe, Japan, North America, Latin America and Australia. In the flick, you can find several guest appearances by such like-minded beat-lovers as James Murphy, Nancy Whang, Erol Alkan, Tiga, Justice, Busy P, So-Me, Peaches, Kitsuné and Klaxons. And, in the words of the press release, you’ll also get "adulation, debauchery, ebullience, reflection, cynicism, tiredness, despair, delusion, ridiculousness, contradiction, revelation, exhaustion, homesickness,” not to mention a bunch of behind-the-scenes DVD extras.

As for the second film, Nite Versions Live is a more straight-up concert film "that captures perfectly the blissful and beautiful sonic malevolence of Soulwax's Nite Versions blitzkrieg.”

If you’d prefer to see what this means in the flesh, Soulwax still have a few remaining Canadian tour dates, and hit up Calgary tonight (October 28) and Vancouver on Wednesday, where Part of the Weekend Never Dies will screen before the live show.

Here are all the remaining tour stops:

10/28 Calgary, AB - HiFi Club
10/29 Vancouver, BC - Plaza Club
10/30 San Francisco, CA - Mezzanine
10/31 Los Angeles, CA - Shrine Auditorium
