Alvvays have been sampled for a new rap song and it's, well, um... How do we put this? It's terrible.

X (formerly Twitter) user @tlop44 shared a 23-second video along with the caption, "this sample is heavenly wtf." It's a sample of the chorus of Alvvays' Blue Rev track "Very Online Guy," which plays for 10 glorious seconds before getting chopped up with a fidgety hip-hop beat full of trap hi-hats.

The beat itself is perfectly fine — until a rapper defiles it with some truly grotesque ad-libs and growls, the lyrics of which seem to go something like, "Bleugh, yeah, stuh stuh! Yeah, you know it's stuck, fuck!"

In the replies, there's lots of praise for the sample and some for the beat as well, but the comments unanimously agree that the rapping ruins the whole thing. It turns out that people these days actually can agree on something!

It's not clear who is responsible for this okay production and cursed rapping; numerous people in the comments have asked, but no one has offered up a conclusive answer. The visuals come from a short video posted to YouTube by Marcvv under the title "Social Night Out," although the original video featured different music.

Hear the Alvvays flip below, and don't say we didn't warn you.
