After revealing an impressive list of nominees back in July, Sampha has been awarded the 2017 Mercury Prize.

The artist captured the award with his debut LP Process, which arrived in February of this year through Young Turks. His competition included The xx's I See You, Stormzy's Gang Signs & Prayer and Alt-J's Relaxer, among others.

The 12 shortlisted albums were selected by an independent panel of judges, basing their selections solely on the quality of the music on the albums. Sampha will receive a trophy and a cash prize of £25,000.
