Said the Whale Detail New 'Dandelion' Album

The Vancouver band have also booked a string of Canadian dates on a North American tour

After releasing a slew of singles in 2021, Vancouver's Said the Whale have finally announced their seventh album: Dandelion — the follow-up to 2019's Cascadia — comes out on October 22 via Tyler Bancroft's own label, Everything Forever.

The album was produced by Steve Bays (Hot Hot Heat, Mounties) at Tugboat Pl. Studios in New Westminster, BC. Dandelion was the result of Said the Whale letting go of any grand design and following the spools of their creativity — much like the spread of dandelion seeds.

In a statement, Said the Whale's Ben Worcester said:

Dandelion is an optimistic title; dandelions are everywhere. Some people see them as nothing but a garden weed, but to many others they are a beautiful flower whose bloom marks the first sign of spring  not to mention they're edible from root to flower and have many medicinal properties. They grow whether or not you want them to, so why not focus on the positives?

Said the Whale made their triumphant return to the stage at the Calgary Stampede last week and have confirmed they'll be getting back out on the road with some U.S. dates supporting Tokyo Police Club this November. Said the Whale are also doing their own headlining dates in Canada starting in March 22 with a three-night residency at different venues in their hometown.

Tickets for the Canadian shows will be available on pre-sale tomorrow (July 20) with the code DANDELION.
