Rwake

Rwake, a band of Southern sludgesters from Little Rock, AK, dragged the blood, mud and tar inside the Sonar for a humid, choking set. While their most recent release, Rest, was characterized by a heady, almost meditative quality, Rwake brought sourness and acid to their Maryland Deathfest performance, leaving behind the soulful mandolin intro for bared teeth and spitting venom. Rwake's pair of vocalists created absolutely otherworldly noises, writhing and throwing themselves around the stage. This was especially true of B., her long hair held back with a simple headband, who wailed into the mic in a way that could shatter fillings.
