Acclaimed Indigenous concert series RPM Live is returning for its third season this year, and organizers have rolled out the full slate of monthly concerts that spotlight emerging artists from across Canada and Turtle Island.
On September 20, Elisapie will first celebrate the release of her new album The Ballad of the Runaway Girl at Toronto's Burdock, where she'll be joined by Beatrice Deer as part of RPM Live.
From there, RPM and POP Montreal will co-present a pair of shows in the Quebec city on September 28 and 29.
The first on September 28 will find celebrated Abenaki filmmaker and songwriter Alanis Obomsawin performing music from her recently reissued LP Bush Lady at Salle Ludger-Duvernay du Monument-National, while September 29 will bring Leanne Betasamosake Simpson and guests to Montreal's Rialto Hall.
RPM will then take its series south of the border for an evening in New York on October 18, marking the NYC debut of rising Polaris Music Prize nominees Snotty Nose Rez Kids, feminist hip-hop duo Chhoti Maa x Dio Ganhdih and Portland-based MC Ascxnsion.
RPM will then co-present an evening of music in Toronto alongside the imagineNative Film + Media Arts Festival on October 20, bringing Snotty Nose Rez Kids, Silla + Rise, Chhoti Maa, Boogey the Beat and more to Lee's Palace.
A lone November event will bring Ansley Simpson, Evan Redsky and Bloom (a.k.a. Daniel Monkman) back to Toronto's Burdock on November 22.
