Röyksopp

"Twenty Thirteen"

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Dec 23, 2013

With only one week left to go before New Year's, Norwegian unit Röyksopp are sending out a salute to the year that was. The band's latest single is an oldies-style swinger summarizing the sweetness of the last 12 months, and goes by the most appropriate title of "Twenty Thirteen."

A Glen Miller Orchestra-style arrangement of slow-dance brass supports some blue-eyed crooning from guest Jamie Irrepressible, who details time spent grabbing drinks off trays full of wine glasses and praising a DJ's succession of bass drops and snare rolls.
