The February 28 release date of Rose Cousins' latest album, We Have Made a Spark, is coming up fast, but that's not all fans have to look forward to. As a companion piece to her record, the Halifax songwriter is also treating her followers to a mini-documentary entitled If I Should Fall Behind.
The film captures Cousins' experience recording the album with a close-knit group of Boston musicians. She wrote many of the songs off of We Have Made a Spark during songwriting sessions with this group, so, as she explains in the film, she felt it was natural that she record the album with them as well.
Speaking of If I Should Fall Behind in a statement, Cousins said, "I'm lucky to have become part of a community of professional musicians based in Boston who play and record music together on a very regular basis. A true musical family. My influences brought me to Boston and with great fortune; I fell in with the right gang. Making a film to go along with my new record We Have Made a Spark felt like an opportunity to share a glimpse into this community, to show the places and faces that have been significant to my musical journey."
