After releasing last year's Exit Strategy of the Soul, Toronto singer-songwriter Ron Sexsmith was pretty low-key in 2009, taking on a bit of touring and a slot on Elvis Costello's Spectacle alongside Neko Case and Sheryl Crow. Now, the pop perfectionist is ready to kick things into a higher gear and has revealed that his 12th album will be ready for 2010.
In a recent post to his website, Sexmith wrote, "Well we've just finished recording on my new record and so all that remains is mixing, mastering, album art and then hopefully we can get it out somehow in 2010. It's been a wonderful session from start to finish and I'm excited for y'all to hear it. With any luck I'll be hitting the road with a full band and a truck load of new songs."
Keeping with the season, Sexsmith also made a Christmas video for the Exit Strategy track "Spiritude." The video, complete with some tasty baked goods, can be viewed here.
Fans in Toronto can catch Ron Sexsmith at the Horseshow Tavern on New Year's Eve, where he'll be opening for the Sadies.
