The album was recorded following New York's state of emergency in 2020

Fleet Foxes' Robin Pecknold has announced a new live album called A Very Lonely Solstice, originally recorded as a livestream event in December 2020. It's arriving digitally this Friday (December 10) on Anti- with limited-edition coloured vinyl and CDs expected to arrive this spring.

The 13-track album was captured at St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church in Brooklyn, NY, and features solo acoustic versions of Fleet Foxes songs from across the band's discography, including 2008's "Tiger Mountain Peasant Song," 2011's "Blue Spotted Tail" and 2017's "If You Need to, Keep Time on Me."

There's also a cover of Nina Simone's "In the Morning" and a rendition of the traditional folk song "Silver Dagger," which the band covered in their early days.

In a statement, Pecknold described the recording — which took place just days after New York announced a state of emergency — as "me by myself on the longest night of the year … honouring the loneliness of 2020 with a nylon string and some songs new and old."

Last month, Pecknold announced that he would be teaching an online songwriting workshop starting in January. Fleet Foxes' last record was 2020's Shore
