The past couple of months have seen Rise Against hinting at a new album coming our way this summer, and the Chicago punks have now given up some concrete details behind the release. Titled The Black Market, the band's seventh full-length hits retailers July 15 via Interscope.
A new trailer for the set was unveiled this morning (June 4), confirming the title and the street date. As you'll see down below, the clip features shots of fans painted up with parts of the band's familiar clenched-fist and heart logo, as well as scenes of the group posing in the streets.
Singer Tim McIlrath discusses the LP as well, noting that they've "reached the finish line" by wrapping up the recording sessions and that "It's been a good break and we're ready to get back in the saddle." The track you hear in the background is the record's "I Don't Want to Be Here Anymore."
While a tracklisting has not popped up for the platter, a press release explains that, thematically, The Black Market "focuses on the cost of self-awareness."
"Rise Against has always been a political band, but also a personal band," McIlrath added in a press statement. "We've always had songs that have a foot in both worlds. This album is a lot more introspective to me."
While Rise Against issued a 10th anniversary edition of Revolutions Per Minute in 2013, The Black Market is the first album of new material from the band since 2011's Endgame.
Rise Against will be playing Riot Fest dates this summer, including the Toronto stop in September, with a fuller tour schedule to be announced at a later date.
