When black metal is aggressive and furious, it rages with the energy of a thousand dying suns. Few bands capture that dark and grim imagery better than Revenge. Their latest record, Behold.Total.Rejection, manages to incorporate doomy elements and take the listener on a journey while simultaneously pummelling them with the band's dark energy.

The group consists of just two members, J.Read, who writes all the music and handles drums and vocals, and Vermin, who plays guitar and bass. In that way, Revenge reflect some of the truest ethos of black metal — they represent a singular vision, in its rawest form. Some of the standout tracks on this record are "Desolation Insignia," which manages to have a catchy, doomy chorus among echoing screams of desolation, and the track they previewed the record with, "Wolf Slave Protocol (Choose Your Side)," which best demonstrates the aggression, strength and rhythm of the record.

Behold.Total.Rejection screams, scrapes, terrifies and, above all, captivates extreme metal audiences. The blend of doomy riffs and fast shredding indicates the duo have a strong grasp on the current metal landscape, innovating without alienating. Anyone who can withstand the brutality here will be well rewarded.
