This past weekend (August 11 to 14), Shambhala Music Festival returned to Salmo River Ranch, British Columbia, bringing out thousands of attendees to experience the freedom that being out in the great beyond inspires. As dozens of musicians brought all-night parties to stages like the Fractal Forest, the Living Room and more, fans got in touch with nature, each other and themselves. And just when the whole thing seemed doomed by threats of wildfires, authorities deemed it safe for the weekend's festivities to continue.
We sent Exclaim! photographer Kim Jay to capture the magic of the fest: the music, the people, the scenery and more. A few of her photos are embedded below, but to see everything she saw, open the Flickr gallery at the bottom and flip through them all.
