Coming off the 2016 release of J Dilla's long-lost vocal album, The Diary, another pair of rarities have surfaced from the late icon's archives. A two-song 12-inch single features a cut with Kanye West.
Rappcatts are expected to ship the single by October 5. The product description notes that the two cuts had previously been housed on a demo CDR filed MCA under the title of The Middle Finger.
Parts of the CDR were stripped for a separate promo CD for a record titled Pay Jay, sans the track "Fuck the Police." An official release was never to come, though the promo leak led to plenty of bootlegs.
The original CDR was recently found in a storage until, basically unplayable. What survived were an alternate version of "Fuck the Police" and an edit of "The Anthem" featuring bars from Kanye West. The latter cut had also appeared with vocals from Frank n Dank on The Diary.
Rappcatts are issuing the two-song 12-inch in a limited run of 1,000 hand-numbered copies. You can find out more info over here.
