At one time, live albums meant something. The best aren’t over-produced and leave the listener with the feeling that they truly missed a once in a lifetime event. Live Aus Berlin doesn’t have this. One would assume that this concert has some meaning for the band — performing in front of a crowd that understands their German lyrics and has probably supported them from the beginning — yet it is filled with shortcomings in the magical moment department. Sure, the crowd responds in an over-the-top fashion to “Bestrafe Mich,” “Du Hast” and “Weisses Fleisch,” but it isn’t convincing enough to make it the show that you had go to. While not the best packaged live album, it will still appeal to fans who are looking for anything Rammstein.
