Brooklyn group Pterodactyl have made a name on their often abrasive sound, but now they've revealed plans for a third album that's expected to take a poppy turn.
The new release is called Spills Out, and a press release explains that the album "gently leads the trio towards the uplifting, wistful harmonies of '60s rockers like the Zombies, CSNY and the pre-acid Beatles," adding that the group's "onomatopoetic barks have been replaced by a luxurious three-part croon; their adenoidal squawk has been expanded to include Spectorian levels of reassuring fuzz" resulting in an album that is "triumphant, melancholic, unapologetically pop."
Spills Out will be available on November 15 via Jagjaguwar offshoot Brah Records. Album track "Nerds" can be downloaded here.
In addition to the new release, the trio have announced a North American tour that includes Canadian stops in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. All dates are available below.
