Remix albums can be rather dodgy. If fans are particularly close to a record, messing with what already worked can alienate and upset. The problem deepens tenfold when referencing something vastly overlooked, like Prong's 2007 effort, Power Of The Damager. That crowd of admirers is even smaller. However, the acute attention paid to each of these tracks should please those few individuals and garner new fans as it intrigues the black light, gothic dance crew. Impressively, the band have opted to allow both expected and atypical remixers to apply themselves to the endeavour, resulting in some truly interesting electronic takes on Prong's otherwise organic, primal attack. From Anthrax's Rob Caggiano and Dillinger Escape Plan's Greg Puciato to members of Dope, Revolting Cocks and Pitchshifter, the album's 13 tracks are as interesting and unique in their remixed states as they were on the original album. Upbeat, energetic and slightly cryptic while maintaining Prong's metallic thrust, Power Of The Damn MiXXXer is surprisingly engaging, breathing new life into that which was unfairly ignored in its first incarnation.
