Prince Says He Doesn't Like Ed Sheeran and Katy Perry in New Memoir

The Purple One's posthumous 'The Beautiful Ones' is out now

Prince's posthumous memoir The Beautiful Ones arrives today, and there are some pretty juicy details in the book — including the tidbit that he didn't care for the musical stylings of Ed Sheeran or Katy Perry.

In a rather scathing takedown of media conglomerates running the music industry, Prince is quoted as saying: "We need to tell them that they keep trying to ram Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran down our throats and we don't like it no matter how many times they play it."

The quote comes from a letter written by Prince and addressed to the music and media industries at large. It's included in the memoir.

The book began to be co-written with Dan Piepenbring before Prince's death in 2016. Piepenbring finished the book, using interviews, lyrics, photos, scrapbooks and drawings by Prince to flesh it out.

The Beautiful Ones is available for as of today via Random House.
