Sure to highlight one of the most colourful musical histories in modern times, Prince has announced he's prepping his memoirs. A title has yet to be delivered, but the Purple One's autobiography is due to arrive in the fall of 2017 via Random House imprint Spiegel & Grau.
A press release has called Prince's as-yet-untitled project "an unconventional and poetic journey through his life and creative work — from the family that shaped him and the people, places, and ideas that fired his creative imagination, to the stories behind the music that changed the world."
Prince has not yet commented on the upcoming book, but a statement from Spiegel & Grau executive editor Chris Jackson calls the author "a towering figure in global culture," one who's "creative genius has provided the musical landscape of our lives."
Jackson added: "Millions of words have been written about Prince — books and articles, essays and criticism — but we're thrilled to be publishing Prince's powerful reflections on his own life in his own incandescently vivid, witty, and poetic voice."
While subject matter has been kept mum for now, it's noted that this will be an "unconventional" set of memoirs. Possible topics covered could include his early days in the Minneapolis R&B scene, the making of Purple Rain, or the problems with Warner Bros. that led to the musician billing himself as "the Artist Formerly Known as Prince" for a number of years.
No stranger to controversy, the book could also have Prince weighing in on the PRMC's attempt to censor his "Darling Nikki," or his distaste for the internet, while also offering creative insight into the countless hits and classic albums he's put together over the last 30 plus years
