If three-piece the Ether are any indication of what's to come from the new Halifax scene, then expect it to be loud. While their onstage demeanor is most likely evocative of their nice-boy statuses in real life, their chord progressions feel like Brando, that is to say wildly manic yet theoretically traditional. Their lead singer's cracked but surprisingly melodic screams over awesomely ascending guitar arpeggios vibrated in the audience's chest. In fact, seeing the Ether was an entirely visceral experience, embracing the experimental punk vibe in the best way possible.
