Emo pop one-hit wonder turned campfire mainstay "Hey There Delilah" has not left the public consciousness. In fact, some 12 years after the Plain White T's released the song, it is having a further shelf life in a new format.
Specifically, producers are developing the song into a scripted television show. As The Hollywood Reporter explains, the song is being developed to series by Lively McCabe Entertainment and Primary Wave.
The lyrics of the song follow the trials and tribulations of a long-distance relationship. That story will be expanded into what producers are describing as a "contemporary fairy tale."
"It's been more than a decade since 'Hey There Delila' was released, and people always ask me about it. A whole lot of people really connected with that song, and I'm very proud of that," the band's Tom Higgenson said. "I'm so excited to have an opportunity to give a new generation the chance to form their own connection with the song, and fall in love with its story through this new project."
