Paper Lions

"Philadelphia" (video)

BY Matthew RitchiePublished Aug 25, 2014

Philadelphia has long been known as the city of brotherly love. That's why it comes as no surprise that road-worn PEI pop outfit Paper Lions (which is made up of real life brothers John and Rob MacPhee, as well as pals David Cyrus MacDonald and Colin Buchanan) would use the American destination as inspiration for their single of the same name off of last year's My Friends LP. Relive some of the band's favourite family vacations by watching their video for "Philadelphia" on Exclaim.ca.

Seemingly inspired by the nauseating feeling one gets from being forced to watch an old-fashioned slideshow, the video features the band members' faces super-imposed on shots of families having some fun at the beach, a Mayan temple and even a blimp show.

"There are a lot of awkward moments in this video," says the band's Colin Buchanan of the clip. "Uncomfortable, awkward moments that capture that strange point in your life when you are held at bay by your age. Being treated like a child, but you feel like an adult."

Speaking of travel, Paper Lions have a few tour dates across Canada scheduled for September. Check out the dates below, but not before watching "Philadelphia" in the player below.
