He did write "Sweet Leaf," after all

A compendium of health issues recently lead Ozzy Osbourne to postpone all his 2019 tour dates, but his wife and manager Sharon Osbourne has revealed the Prince of Darkness is using CBD oil to help relieve his pain.

Appearing on U.K. talk show Loose Women today, Sharon detailed Ozzy's "tough year" so far, recounting the litany of ailments that led to the tour cancellations:

It started off with flu, which went to bronchitis, which went to pneumonia. He was hospitalized, came out and he was well on the road to recovery.

He gets up in the middle of the night to go to the loo, on the way back, he tripped on the carpet under our bed and fell against the corner of the night table, which is made of mirror. He hit it at such a speed. [He was] taken to hospital.

A few years ago he was in a motorbike accident and had metal bones put in his body. The accident moved all the metal rods and the bones that they were screwed into all splintered. Then he has trouble with his neck and they had to do two operations on him. He is recovery now, thank God, but every day he has to work with the physiotherapist.

Asked if there were any worries about Ozzy becoming addicted to prescription painkillers, Sharon replied, "He is off all of that. He had to have it after he was operated on, but now for pain, he has that CBD oil. He is dealing with it that way."

CBD (cannabidiol) is a chemical compound found in cannabis commonly used to treat pain, inflammation and conditions of the nervous system. Of course, Ozzy and his Black Sabbath bandmates famously wrote an ode to the "Sweet Leaf" on 1971's Master of Reality.

Last fall, Osbourne cancelled dates on his North American farewell tour in the wake of "multiple infections." He later revealed that he was suffering from three staph infections in his right thumb.
