No Joy aren't the most exciting band to see live -- what shoegaze act is? -- but they sure as hell know how to bring their hypnotic sound to life. Jasamine White-Gluz and Laura Lloyd's vocals could have been higher in the loud-as-fuck mix, but part of No Joy's charm is in their hazy, melodic wall-of-guitar noise. Plus, everything else about the band's set was tight: the drums, bass and guitars all churned as one, together, infusing songs from No Joy's excellent Ghost Blonde LP with more vigor and emphasis than they have on record. And really, that's what concerts are about, right?
