The xx haven't put out an album since 2017's I See You — the trio of Jamie xx, Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim have been busy with their solo output over the last five years — but that doesn't mean they don't have anything in the works.

Speaking with Consequence Podcast Network's Kyle Meredith With…, Sim confirmed that the band will deliver new material... at some point. He said:

The xx will always be my home and will always be my priority. And normally I wouldn't speak for Romy and Jamie, but I know they feel the same. I think all of us doing our solo projects just makes me excited. It's like, how is this gonna change the band? What have we all learned independently? And nothing is recorded at the moment, but there is more music from the xx, definitely.

No word on what they're working on exactly, or when it'll come out, but we'll have Sim's debut album Hideous Bastard (released last month) to keep us warm in the meantime.

Sadly, fans won't be able to enjoy it IRL anytime soon; in early September, Sim cancelled his North American tour, which included a lone Canadian stop in Toronto, stating that things didn't "quite come together the way we'd hoped."

The xx had previously teased that new music would arrive back in 2020.
