Nelly has been cast as Chuck Berry in a new Buddy Holly biopic titled Clear Lake, named after the Iowa site of the 1959 plane crash that killed Holly.
Holly will be played by Ruairi O'Connor, while Tom Hanks' son, Colin Hanks, will play Norman Petty alongside Orange Is the New Black star Diane Guerrero who will play Holly's wife, Maria Elena Holly.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is set to be directed by Bruce Beresford and will tell the story of Holly's teen years as well as his 1958 "Biggest Show of Stars" tour. Beresford will adapt a screenplay by Patrick Shanahan, who is set to co-produce.
Clear Lake is being produced by Rick French, Stuart Benjamin, David Hirshland and Kathy Rivkin Daum.
