NAV Says Canadians Are More Polite Than Americans: "We Just Have More Manners"

"I feel like there's more chances to run into a New York asshole in New York than it is in Toronto"

Is saying "thank you" and "you're welcome" too much to ask? NAV was in San Francisco last week for one of his Never Sleep tour performances when a local radio host asked him about the difference between Canadians and Americans — and the Rexdale rapper/producer was quick to explain his perspective on the matter.

"I mean, our parents teach us the things from back home, so I think we just have more manners," he said, attributing Canadian politeness to the large immigrant population. "I feel like there's more chances to run into a New York asshole in New York than it is in Toronto."

NAV explains that the difference is on full display when he thanks waiters in the US, who respond with "mhm" instead of "you're welcome." He goes on to clarify that he thinks there are plenty of nice Americans, to which the host responded, attesting to the Bay Area's friendliness.

With the Never Sleep tour almost over, NAV is preparing to close it out with a show at the Scotiabank Arena for the polite people of Toronto on April 11.
