Montreal singer, songwriter and producer Alix Fernz has announced that his debut album, Bizou, will arrive on April 19 via Mothland.
The multi-hyphenate born Alexandre Fournier is no newcomer to the industry, having cut his teeth as a founding member of local punk band Blood Skin Atopics before embarking on his solo journey with introductory single "Wax" at the end of 2023.
"Bizou is a representation of self-discovery through exploring both the good and bad times," Fernz stated in a press release. "Musically, I wanted to add an almost ironic touch of pop, with hyper-melodic segments in contrast with the shrill and disturbing moments informed by post-punk."
Fernz is teasing Bizou today by sharing its lead single, "Muselière," and an accompanying music video.
"Through a character named Benjamin, the lyrics from 'Muselière' recount my experience at a private school where freedom of speech was frowned upon," Fernz continued. "It’s the first track of the album, a key song filled with intensity."
