Ryder Havdale and his band the Mohawk Lodge celebrated the seventh year anniversary of their label, White Whale Records, the only way they know how: with a low-key grassroots performance from a Kensington Market street corner. Performing in the blazing sun to White Whale artists like Eamon McGrath, diehard supporters and some curious onlookers, the trio treated their set like a well-deserved victory lap, with Havdale repeatedly thanking those in attendance for their continued love and support. The trio were augmented by a trumpet player whose horn lines went a long way to filling out the band's sound, particularly on some of the more epic numbers from last year's Crimes. In a week filled with young bands desperately begging for your attention, the Mohawk Lodge's laid-back confidence was a welcome relief.
