Mick Jagger to Undergo Heart Valve Replacement Surgery: Report

Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger is reportedly set to undergo heart valve replacement surgery this week in New York. While not officially confirmed, the news comes in the wake of the band recently postponing their "No Filter" tour

The report of 75-year-old Jagger's surgery comes via the Drudge Report, though the site only credits the news to unidentified sources. The Stones did reveal over the weekend, however, that Jagger did need "medical treatment."

While heart valve replacement surgeries do have a high success rate, they are a serious medical procedure and ones that have life-altering effects on the patient.

In a statement this weekend, the Rolling Stones wrote: "Mick has been advised by doctors that he cannot go on tour at this time, as he needs medical treatment. The doctors have advised Mick that he is expected to make a complete recovery so that he can get back on stage as soon as possible."

Jagger added, "I'm devastated for having to postpone the tour but I will be working very hard to be back on the road as soon as I can."

The Rolling Stones' "No Filter" tour was set to kick off near the end of April, making one Canadian stop at Burl's Creek Event Grounds in Oro-Medonte, ON, on June 29.

The new dates will apparently be "announced shortly," but so far there is no firm details when the concerts will be rescheduled.
