Mi Ami's Daniel-Martin McCormick Preps Ital Album for Planet Mu

When not making dancey post-punk waves as the frontman for Mi Ami, Daniel Martin-McCormick keeps busy with myriad side-projects. Among them is his electronic alter ego Ital, under which he's already released some solid house singles. Now, however, he's expanded his sound and prepared a new full-length.

The album is called Hive Mind and will mark Ital's debut long-player for Planet Mu. In a recent interview with FACT, McCormick explained, "It was time to do something larger, to stretch out."

He goes on to explain that while Hive Mind is relatively darker than his previous work, that wasn't entirely intentional.

"With the exception of 'Privacy Settings,' I wasn't particularly thinking about it being dark or not," he said. "I was really curious to get into time stretching and having stuff push against the beat or get in/out of time, etc. I was also in a rough spot personally, so maybe some of that is reflected."

Hive Mind will be available on February 13 from Planet Mu. The album can be sampled and pre-ordered here. McCormick says we can also expect a new Mi Ami EP and more material form Ital in 2012.

Hive Mind:

1. "Doesn't Matter (If You Love Him)"
2. "Floridian Void"
3. "Privacy Settings"
4. "Israel"
5. "First Wave"
