Mexican Summer Celebrates 5th Anniversary with Collaborative Record Featuring Ariel Pink, Spiritualized, Autre Ne Veut

BY Alex HudsonPublished Sep 16, 2013

Mexican Summer, which has released music from the likes of Best Coast, Ariel Pink and Washed Out, is marking its fifth year in the business, and the Brooklyn label will be celebrating the milestone with a book and collaborative 10-inch record, as well as its own previously revealed festival.

The book is titled Mexican Summer: Five Years. The 250-word tome will be available in a run of 1,000 and will include photos, writing from artists, art, and more. It has an embossed cloth cover and comes in a screen-printed craft paper wrap.

Five Years will also be packaged with a new 10-inch, bringing together label artists for some unique collaborations. These include Jorge Elbrose (Jorge Elbrecht and Ariel Pink) and Bay of Pigs (Spiritualized, Soldiers of Fortune, and Royal Trux's Neil Hagerty), plus contributions from Autre Ne Veut, Fennesz, Bobb Trimble, Renée Mendoza-Haran of Ashrae Fax, and more. See the five-song tracklist below.

Copies are available to purchase here. They are due to ship in December.

Additionally, the label will hold a festival on October 11 and 12 at Brooklyn's Pioneer Works Center for Art and Innovation. The bill includes Spiritualized, Ariel Pink, No Joy, Tamaryn, Fresh & Onlys, Bobb Trimble and others. Go to Mexican Summer's website to see the day-by-day schedule.
