While the rest of Toronto waits with bated breath for local trio METZ to drop their debut album, the band themselves appear to be in no hurry, content to go about their business pulverizing audiences with each performance. This night was no different as the band worked through a half dozen tracks, including standouts from their three EPs, "Negative Space" and "Dry Up." Singer guitarist Alex Edkins appeared agitated, claiming they sounded "shitty" (they didn't) but insisted they were happy to be there. Whatever was going through the band members' heads didn't translate to their performance, which found them grinding out Tool-meets-Jesus Lizard-style noise rock to the delight of the crowd. Seriously, these guys' debut can't come soon enough.
